Dr. Reginia Benjamin gives the introduction for the kickoff conversation of Census in the South: Road to Recovery

Stacey Abrams’ Fair Count & Mitch Landrieu’s E Pluribus Unum are partnering to ensure the South gets counted in the 2020 Census. Together they are launching Census in the South: Road to Recovery, a virtual bus tour traveling across the Deep South promoting the 2020 Census through creative, virtual online engagement events and large-scale mobilization efforts. Kicking off on September 1, the bus tour will “stop” in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina bringing faith leaders, neighborhoods, elected officials, and entire communities together to lay claim to what is ours.

As an Alabama native and former US Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin will address the pandemic from the public health perspective, including racial disparities in healthcare, and what the collective needs to do in order to emerge on the other side of this as whole as possible.
